My goodness, what a Fall Festival we had. It was amazing seeing all those wonderful people having so much fun. How about “Zo-Zo” the Clown, wasn’t he great? I hope someone has seen what a great ministry clowning around for the Lord can be. I know we have a lot of talent right here at Beulah and I hope and pray that you will step up to what the Lord is calling you to do for Him. If it’s being involved in clown ministry, puppet ministry, classroom teaching ministry, door-to-door visitation, youth ministry, older adult ministry, the Lord has a place and a calling for you, but will you answer His call?
If you’ve been around me for a little while you should know Acts 1: 8 fairly well (“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”) Remember that the Apostles had not received the power of the Holy Spirit when Jesus told them this (“shall receive power”) and they would be witnesses (“ye shall be witnesses”), whereas we have received power, at the very moment we accepted Jesus as our Savior through faith, and therefore we are witnesses for Him from that very moment. So, allow me to share this story with you:
A witness is one who testifies to an act or an experience or a person. A witness usually determines the outcome of justice in a court of law. This means that a Christian is one who testifies to the presence and power of Christ. It also means one must attempt to share his/her experience with others.
There was a remarkable story in the May 19, 1982, issue of The Wall Street Journal concerning Richard Block, cofounder of H. 2& R. Block. A few years ago he had lung cancer and struck a bargain with Fate: "Let me live and I will devote my life to fighting cancer." His was a frightening scenario—symptoms, reports from specialists, and ultimately the heavy announcement from one physician, "If I were you, I would get my estate in order."
Today he is well enough to play tennis. More importantly, he has opened a cancer management center in Kansas City. Another aspect of this unique program is a nationwide communication linkup to give rural physicians the latest information on the treatment of cancer. Still another innovative facet of his program is the establishment of a hotline for cancer patients. Each month, newly diagnosed cancer patients are matched with volunteers who have been treated for the same kind of cancer. Block characterizes his mission as: "Help the next person who gets cancer."
I would like to “piggy-back” on his mission statement and say that every person who has climbed Calvary needs to help the next sinner climb that hill so they may also lay their burden down. Can I get a witness?
Be blessed and be a blessing. Pray for one another continually and call upon me at any time.
God bless.
